Migration is a Human Right
Our mission is to promote the economic advancement and well-being of immigrant workers and their families.
We are dedicated to organizing and advocating for, alongside, and in support of our community of immigrants. We push change at the national, state and local level through legislation, mutual aid and campaigns alongside other organizations, elected officials and community leaders. About US
Founded in 1997, we are a community based organization and worker’s center on Staten Island, New York.
Here at El Centro every immigrant feels safe and at home because as a community based organization we aim to promote the well being and economic advancement of immigrant workers.
Our goal is to help those who have migrated here for a better future, with two locations in the neighborhood we offer convenient access to many resources and most importantly a friendly environment where individuals and their families are able to establish connections with the community and build lasting friendships.
El Centro’s focus lies in the heart of our organization; day labor. We connect our members with the community and help them obtain a job that best fits their skills. In return, they are able to better support themselves and their families.
We hope to achieve these goals through our special programs and services tailored to the needs of our people, such as education, access to work, empowerment and leadership development, among many other services.
